For anyone who has ever looked deep into the eyes of a beloved pet and wondered what they would say, if they could only talk!  Well,  the answer awaits at the Pollard Theatre this weekend.  Todd Oliver’s Most Magical Night of Your Life is being presented for two nights, Friday, January 14 and Saturday, January 15.  And this magical night will hold the answers to what your furry friends might be thinking.  Or at least, what Todd Oliver’s furry friends are thinking!  Oliver is a comedian, ventriloquist and magician who entertains with humor as well as magic and the help of Irving and Lucy.  Irving and Lucy are rescue dogs, and they are unbelievably talented in their expressions, making the ventriloquism more than an act, a mirror of their thoughts.  The expressions on the faces of these assistants reads magically matching the humor of the jokes Oliver delivers.  Irving’s deadpan expressions are delightful.

Todd Oliver was a 2012 contestant on America’s Got Talent, and wound up in the top four.  His blend of magic, humor and vocal dexterity provides an evening of outrageous yet inoffensive entertainment that is wonderful to experience.  In fact, magical.

As a youngster Oliver received his first ventriloquist ‘dummy’ as a Christmas gift just days before his father lost a battle with cancer.  As many comedians have found, dealing with tragedy creates a solid foundation for comedy in escapism.  As his act developed, he also found solace in the company of pets and befriended and rescued Irving and Lucy.  Animal lovers often wonder what their furry, fuzzy friends are thinking as they ponder on the expressive features gazing back at them and soon, Oliver helped them find their own voice in his jokes.  Irving and Lucy have a broad range in their faces including much more than deadpan, but each feature composes a component of responsive hilarity.

Jared Blount, Artistic Director at the Pollard says “It is an act that once it starts, you won’t want it to end.”  Throwing his voice around with ventriloquism, and throwing out humor with his joking, and spreading magic around is a combination that has something for everyone, and keeps any audience laughing from deep in the gut.  Oliver’s popularity is growing and it is a treat to welcome him to Oklahoma and the Pollard Theatre in Guthrie.  He has been a hit on David Letterman, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the Today Show among others and it is his live performances that enchant.

Todd Oliver’s Most Magical Night of Your Life is presented in part by John Vance Auto Group and runs for two nights only, January 14th and 15th, 2022 and is an all-ages show.
