Mia McCullough is a talented playwright with many awards to her name.  Her play titled “Chagrin Falls” is currently being presented at 3^rd Act Theatre in Oklahoma City.  Amandanell Bold directs a cast of four men and two women. The gloom of this world is but a shadow and singers must lift their voices to the sky painting it with the sounds of glory.  Yes, this pandemic has brought loss and tragedy to us all and recovery is ponderous.  There are set backs and slip ups but through the tragedy there is the bright light of life and survival. The final production of this ensemble play is written by a “wild and crazy guy,” Steve Martin. Martin is a television/film actor as well as a writer and Meteor Shower is about a true scientific event . I mention this mixed media performance because the story told by this energetic cast of 4 seemed like a tv show and at times a comedy play.

    I  was driving around the other night trying to stay cool in my air-conditioned  car. Being curious, when I saw a crowd gathering at Bishop McGuiness’ High School football stadium, I pulled into the parking lot and noticed their field strewn with various large platforms with castors (wheels), colored stage lights and fifties/early sixties’ music coming from within. Turns out that Lyric Theatre was debuting their production of Grease, by Jim Jacobs & Warren Casey on the football field that evening.

Jewel Box Theatre is presenting Patrick Hamilton’s “Gaslight” under the expert direction of Richard Lemin and a cast of five talented performers.  “Gaslight” is a play of suspense and intrigue with complicated characters and is often known as “Angel Street”  in USA theatrical circles. “Gaslight” is best known as the 1944 American film starring Ingrid Bergman, Joseph Cotton and Charles Boyer and earning an Oscar nomination for Angela Lansbury in her first film role.
